Driving Impact
Beyond the Lab
Bridging the gap between scientific innovation and community needs. Fostering education, outreach, and sustainable solutions.
Moments in the Field
Impact & Outreach
Helping underserved people and animals by promoting affordability, accessibility, and early STEM involvement.
Volunteering
Welfare & Public HealthMy volunteering journey began with the Conejo Free Clinic, supporting events like the Annual Women’s Health Fair to provide quality care regardless of income. I also worked with Many Mansions, tutoring low-income residents in affordable housing programs.
Currently, my focus has shifted to environmental and animal welfare:
- Wildlife Learning Center: Enclosure maintenance and enrichment for porcupines, armadillos, and tortoises.
- Citizen’s Climate Lobby: Promoting environmental sustainability.
- Best Friend’s Animal Society: Advocating for animal welfare.
STEM Outreach
Education & MentorshipMy goal is to promote early engineering exposure, helping students fall in love with research just as I did.
- SERVES (2019-2024): Improved Veteran retention in STEM through quarterly demos and mentorship.
- SciTrek (UCSB): Designed soil retention modules for primary students to conduct real experiments.
- Letters to a Pre-Scientist: Demystifying the path to becoming a scientist for elementary students.
- College Ambassador: Hosted events introducing students to engineering.
Community
Access & SustainabilityI believe resources should be accessible to all. At the University of Utah, I independently established a Textbook-Share program ensuring free, unlimited access to class resources for students of all income backgrounds.
Global Impact: At the University of Cambridge, I helped develop an inexpensive diagnostic tool for leptospirosis, designing a reagent compatible with silica from beach sand to bypass expensive supply chains.
